Paul Michael Hassett
Paul Michael Hassett is a member of the firm and Senior Managing Partner of Brown & Kelly, LLP. Mr. Hassett is a native of Buffalo and was graduated from Canisius College (B.S. cum laude, 1962), and Georgetown University Law Center (LL. B., 1965) where he was associate editor of the Georgetown Law Journal. He served as a Captain in the United States Army from 1966 to 1968 and has been associated with Brown & Kelly, LLP and its predecessor firms since that time. Named a 2009 Super Lawyer in the area of Estate Planning and Probate, his practice is concentrated in probate, estate and trust administration, and general business law.
He is a Past President of the New York State Bar Association and has served in its House of Delegates since 1990. He was Chair of the Public Relations Committee and has chaired and served on numerous other New York State Bar Association Committees. He is the Treasurer of the New York Bar Foundation and has been a member of its Board of Directors since 2000.
Mr. Hassett is a Past-President of the Bar Association of Erie County and of the Erie County Bar Foundation which he served as a member of its Board of Directors for nine years. He has also served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Erie County Bar Association Volunteer Lawyers Project, the Aid to Indigent Prisoners Society, and the Erie Institute of Law. He received the Lawyer of the Year Award from the BAEC in June 2000.
Mr. Hassett is a member of the Board of Governors of the Fee Dispute Resolution Program of the Office of Court Administration. He has been a member of the Executive Council of the National Conference of Bar Presidents, and a former President of the Metropolitan Bar Caucus, both ABA affiliate organizations, and a member of the Dean’s Advisory Council of the University at Buffalo Law School. He is a member of the American Bar Association and a delegate to its House of Delegates from the NYSBA.
Mr. Hassett has served as a member of the Board of Regents at Canisius College and was Chair of the Board in 2005-2006. He is also Chair of the Pre-Law Advisory Council at Canisius College. Mr. Hassett has been a member of the College's DiGamma Honor Society since his student days and is a member of Alpha Sigma Nu, the National Jesuit Honor Society.
He is a Past-Commodore of the Buffalo Canoe Club and a member of the Amherst Male Glee Club, which he served as President and General Chairman of its annual musical revue, the Red Blazer Varieties, for many years.
