Named a Super Lawyer in the 2009 Upstate Edition of New York Super Lawyer Magazine, Lisa T. Sofferin represents companies, organizations and individuals in state and federal courts in a wide range of disputes. She has been counsel in cases involving trademark, Internet and domain name disputes, copyright infringement, trade secrets and claims of unfair competition. She also handles cases involving claims of employment discrimination, wrongful termination and non-competition agreements. In addition, her practice includes contract litigation involving manufacturers, distributors, shareholders and partnerships as well as matters related to real estate, construction and manufacturing. Ms. Sofferin has also been counsel in Article 78 proceedings, municipal tort and civil rights claims, tax assessment proceedings and disputes regarding historic sites. She also represents insurance companies in contract interpretation and coverage disputes. Born in Toronto, Ontario, Ms. Sofferin leads the Firm's cross-border and federal court practice teams.  She is also a certified federal court mediator.

Prior to joining Brown & Kelly in 1991, Ms. Sofferin practiced law in Los Angeles, California. Ms. Sofferin obtained her undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan and her juris doctorate from Loyola Law School (Los Angeles). She was admitted to the State Bar of California in 1984 and the State Bar of New York in 1990. She is also admitted to the United States Courts of Appeals for the Second, Seventh and Ninth Circuits; the United States District Courts for the Western, Southern and Northern Districts of New York and Central District of California; and the United States Bankruptcy Courts for the Western District of New York and Central District of California.

Ms. Sofferin is a member of the New York State Bar Association, the Bar Association of Erie County and the Defense Research Institute.  She is a Fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America.
